Andy Antonacci, Sacred Heart-Griffin, baseball
The senior pitcher picked up the win in 6 1/3 innings and sparked the Cyclones in the pivotal fourth inning with a solo home run in a 4-1 win over host Pleasant Plains for the team’s first sectional title since 2021 on Saturday.
James Baisden/Jacob Barth, Auburn, boys track and field
The junior duo combined to win the 4×400-meter relay with teammates Hunter Piper and Carter Hunley in 3 minutes, 22.05 seconds at the Class 1A boys track and field state finals. Baisden claimed fifth in the individual 800 in 1:57.48, while Barth was also fifth in the individual 400 in 49.82 seconds.
Jamarion Bardwell, Sacred Heart-Griffin, boys track and field
The senior soared over the 2.02-meter bar for second place in the high jump at the Class 2A boys track and field state finals. He was also third in the triple jump at 13.69 meters.
Coy Clarke, Pawnee, baseball
The senior delivered the game-tying base hit in the bottom of the eighth inning before Pawnee prevailed 4-3 over Casey-Westfield for the Class 1A Altamont Sectional title on Saturday.
McKenzie Doe III, Chatham Glenwood, boys track and field
The sophomore reached the 2.02 meter bar for second place in the high jump at the Class 3A boys track and field state finals.
Parker Campbell, Lincoln, boys track and field
The senior captured second place in the 110-meter hurdles (14.18 seconds) and eighth in the 300 hurdles (41.68) at the Class 2A boys track and field state finals.
Tyler Gurski, Chatham Glenwood, baseball
The senior catcher collected three hits and drove in three runs in a 4-0 win over host Jacksonville for the Class 3A regional title on Saturday.
Kamryn Hoffman, Springfield High, girls soccer
The junior doled out two goals in a 2-0 victory over host Pleasant Plains on Friday to advance to the Class 2A Troy Triad Supersectional.
Maddie Howerter, Havana, softball
The freshman conjured eight strikeouts and went the distance in a 7-5 win over Liberty for the Class 2A Concord Triopia Sectional title on Friday.
Chaz Oberkfell, Gillespie, boys track and field
The junior secured second place in the 3200-meter run (9:38.14) and third in the 1600 (4:25.18) at the Class 1A boys track and field state finals.
Ella Plumb, Williamsville, girls soccer
The freshman scored and assisted in a 2-1 victory over Rock Island Alleman in the Chillicothe Illinois Valley Central Supersectional to vault the Bullets to a second consecutive Class 1A state finals appearance.
Brock Runyon, Jacksonville Routt, baseball
The senior pitcher carved out eight strikeouts in five innings in a 4-1 win over Winchester West Central for the Class 1A sectional title at Illinois College on Saturday.
