PEORIA — A 45-year-old Peoria man has been identified as the person found dead in the Illinois River on Tuesday.
Damien Gulliford, 45, died of “acute drowning” with no evidence of trauma or foul play suspected, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Wednesday.
Gulliford was found in the Illinois River near the 400 block of SW Water Street around 9:14 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the Peoria Police Department.
How and where he entered the water is still being investigated, according to Harwood.
