It marked the first regional championship in 3A for the program.

Notre Dame (22-0) advances to the Normal Community Sectional semifinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 26. PND will face second-seed East Moline United Township.

Notre Dame, Morton and Dunlap all captured regional championships from among Peoria’s area teams.

Richwoods, Washington, Peoria Christian, Canton and Princeton were area teams that fell in their regional title matches.

Here’s a look at how all of them fared:

Morton 4, Richwoods 0

The Potters got all four goals from Claire Ceresa to beat the Class 2A Richwoods Regional hosts for the title.

Morton rolled to a 22-1-1 record with its fourth straight regional championship and 17th consecutive shutout, the latter tying an IHSA record.

Morton plays Champaign Central in a 4 p.m. Morton Sectional semifinal match Tuesday, May 26.

Dunlap 2, Washington 1 (OT)

The Eagles escaped with an upset over No. 2 seed Washington in the Class 2A Metamora Regional championship game.

Washington scored on a second-half penalty kick for a 1-1 tie. But Mia Williams left-footed a shot from 30 yards out over the goalkeeper’s head to give Dunlap a victory with three minutes left in the second OT.

Dunlap (12-4-7) plays Normal West in the Morton Sectional semifinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Monticello 1, Peoria Christian 0

The game went to penalty kicks, won 4-3 by Monticello.

Peoria Christian (14-5-1) had successful penalty kicks from Violet Hynek, Sarah Lempesis and Addy Lovell but it wasn’t enough in the Class 1A Chillicothe IVC Regional title match.

Monticello heads to the Rock Island Alleman Sectional semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Rock Island Alleman, which won the Princeton Regional on Saturday.

Geneseo 3, Canton 0

The host Geneseo Maple Leafs shut down Canton, 3-0, to win the Class 1A Geneseo Regional title match.

Geneseo moves on to a match against Bloomington Central Catholic in the Rock Island Sectional semifinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Canton finished 9-9-3.

Rock Island Alleman 4, Princeton 0

The Princeton Tigers ran into No. 1 seed Rock Island Alleman on Saturday in the Class 1A Princeton Regional title match.

Alleman got a pair of goals from freshman outside midfielder Anna Mayerhofer in the first seven minutes of the match and stayed in control the rest of the way.

Princeton finished 17-7 on the season. Rock Island Alleman moved on to its own Sectional, where it will face Monticello in a 7 p.m. semifinals match Tuesday.
