Peoria city manager scheduled for another raise. Here's how much

Peoria’s highest-paid public employee is due for a raise at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.

City Manager Patrick Urich, who has been employed by the city since 2011, is set to receive his annual 3% raise on Tuesday night. This, if approved by the council, would raise his salary to $233,557.26.

Urich will also receive a lump sum longevity bonus of $5,000. Urich spent 10 years working for Peoria County as county administrator before taking over as Peoria’s city manager in 2011.

Urich’s raise is usually approved by the council amid of flurry of compliments for his performance as city manager, a position which essentially operates as the CEO of the city.

“He’s a very talented and experienced city manager, we’re proud to have him in Peoria,” Mayor Rita Ali told the Journal Star.

Members of the City Council and city staff members fill out electronic performance reviews for Urich, who Ali said, “brings a lot of knowledge to the job.”

“We take that all into consideration, we look at what was accomplished in 2025 in all the different areas of his responsibilities and based upon that summation we provide him some feedback, and we determine whether he gets a raise or not,” Ali said.

How does Urich’s salary compare to other cities?

Urich’s salary is on par with that of city managers in other similarly sized municipalities like Bloomington, where City Manager Jeff Jurgens, who has only been with the city for three years, receives a salary of $216,744.15.

In Naperville, City Manager Doug Krieger is paid $256,226.55.

Champaign City Manager Joan Walls receives a salary of $260,022.78.
