The Chicago Bears will host the Los Angeles Rams in a divisional playoff game in prime time at Soldier Field, where Chicago is looking to shock the NFL world and advance to the NFC Championship Game.
The NFL announced officiating crews for the divisional round, and Shawn Hochuli was assigned to the Bears-Rams game on Sunday night. Hochuli, 47, is in his eighth year as a referee and 12th season in the league overall. He’s worked six playoff games as a head official.
During the regular season, Hochuli’s crew called 232 penalties, which is the second most in the NFL. The home team has won 55.17% of the time with Hochuli running the show. The home team has also been penalized more, 128-104. But it’s worth noting that Hochuli won’t have his usual crew for this divisional round as the league creates new crews based on the top-rated officials.
The Bears have notoriously been one of the most-penalized teams in the NFL with 120 penalties, which is the sixth most in the league. Chicago hasn’t had Hochuli as an official this season, and the Bears are 2-1 all-time with Hochuli leading the charge.
