New business opening in Peoria's Warehouse District seeks to sell beer, wine

PEORIA — The Peoria Liquor Commission unanimously recommended site approval for alcohol sales to a new business planning to open in Peoria’s Warehouse District.

Palate Tasting Room, which went before the commission on Monday, is seeking site approval to serve beer and wine at 820 SW Adams Street.

The business will be focused on educating people about beer, wine and spirits, according to the business’ proprietor Lanora Fisher. Fisher said the long-term goal of the business is to eventually be a wine bar, but for now it will focus on classes about wine and beer.

Fisher told the commission she planned to open in the first part of 2026. She declined to speak with the Journal Star following the meeting.

The license the business applied for will allow it to serve packaged beer and wine for on-site or take-home consumption. To serve hard liquor, it would need a different license.

Final site approval for the business will go to the Peoria City Council on Oct. 28.

This is only the first step toward serving alcohol at the location. A local liquor license will also need to be approved by Mayor Rita Ali and a state license must also be granted.
