Launch recap of the SpaceX rocket launch in Cape Canaveral early Tuesday, during supermoon

Launch recap: Live updates from the Starlink 10-59 mission, which launched 2:46 a.m. Oct. 7 from Launch Complex 40 in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Original story: Get ready for that rumble again. The Space Coast is lining up to have its first rocket launch in more than a week early Tuesday − and as an added bonus, it comes during the Harvest supermoon peak.

Set for now no earlier than 2:46 a.m. Oct. 7, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is set to lift off from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

That launch is set to come right after the October Harvest supermoon reaches its fullest peak, which occurs at 11:48 p.m. This is when the moon makes its closest approach to Earth, making it appear much brighter than usual.

Of course, this is if weather does not spoil the launch and cover the supermoon. As of Monday morning, the Space Force 45th Weather Squadron predicted a 65% chance of favorable conditions for the liftoff time.

The mission is titled Starlink 10-59, and will be delivering a batch of the company’s 28 Starlink internet satellites to orbit.

Depending on weather, those north of the Space Coast will get a good view of the rocket traveling across the night sky − as it is slated to fly northeast upon liftoff.

The launch was delayed for a week straight while Tropical Storm Imelda passed by the Florida coast. SpaceX did not release an official statement on the delay.

SpaceX liftoff!

Update 2:46 a.m.: The Falcon 9 rocket has left the launch pad, carrying 28 Starlink internet satellites to orbit.

SpaceX launch webcast begins

Liftoff is scheduled in five minutes from Launch Complex 40 in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

We are 10 minutes from today’s SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch!

Update 2:36 a.m.: T-10 minutes! Head outside if you plan on catching this launch! If you have clear skies, it will be hard to miss the bright rocket rising into the night sky.

Simply look towards the direction South of Kennedy Space Center from your direction.

Update 2:26 a.m.: This morning’s SpaceX launch will see the Falcon 9 booster land on the A Shortfall of Gravitas drone ship, which is stationed out in the Atlantic Ocean. No Brevard County sonic booms will be heard.

Liftoff is in 20 minutes.

SpaceX Falcon 9 fueling now underway

Update 2:16 a.m.: Visual cues indicate Falcon 9 fueling procedures are now underway at Launch Complex 40, though SpaceX has yet to make an official announcement.

That means tonight’s Starlink mission is now locked in to lift off at 2:46 a.m. without any countdown delays, or else the launch must be postponed.

SpaceX launch in Florida sees booster’s eighth mission

Update 2:05 a.m.: The Falcon 9 booster launching this morning’s mission is seeing its eighth flight. It previously launched two other Starlink missions, CRS-33, O3b mPOWER-E, NASA’s Crew-10, Bandwagon-3, and O3b mPOWER-D.

Over a week since Florida has seen a rocket launch

Update 1:50 a.m.: With turbulent weather offshore the past week, Florida saw a rare occasion − a week without a rocket launch.

The last launch from Cape Canaveral was on Sept. 25. when a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket launched a batch of Amazon Project Kuiper internet satellites.

Today’s liftoff is set for 2:46 a.m.

Upcoming SpaceX Starship launch from Texas

Update 1:33 a.m.: In case you missed it, SpaceX plans to launch Flight 11 of its Starship no earlier than 7:15 p.m. ET Monday, Oct. 13 from Starbase, Texas.

While the plan is not to recover the booster or ship on this flight, SpaceX states it plans to launch with the booster which was successfully caught during Flight 8 − which occurred on March 6, 2025.

In Florida, work on the launch tower at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Pad 39A as well as the SpaceX Gigabay in Kennedy Space Center continues. Final Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Space Force Environmental Impact Statements are yet to be released.

Today’s SpaceX Falcon 9 launch from Florida is still set for 2:45 a.m.
