Burlington is set to open 26 stores in May as part of its nationwide expansion to more than 1,000 locations.
The new stores are spread across 20 U.S. states, including Illinois.
The May openings come as Burlington plans to open more than 100 stores by the end of 2026. In an emailed statement to USA TODAY, Burlington CEO Michael O’Sullivan said the new stores will feature an “improved store design.”
“Delivering incredible value on brand-name and on-trend merchandise is at the heart of what we do,” he said. “We look forward to giving shoppers the chance to explore great savings, find fresh brands, and experience our new and improved store design no matter where they live.”
Apart from May’s store openings, Burlington also broke ground on a massive, two-million-square-foot distribution center near Phoenix, Arizona. Burlington says the new center is set to open in 2028.

Where is Burlington opening a new store in Illinois?
Burlington lists 26 locations with future opening dates in May on its “Grand Openings” page.
One of these new stores will be opening soon at 2056 IL-50 in Bourbonnais, Illinois. The store will be situated in a strip mall between an Ulta Beauty and a DICK’S Sporting Goods.
When will the new Illinois store open?
The store is set to open Friday, May 15.
New Burlington store opens in DeKalb
Illinois already welcomed a new Burlington store in May, according to the page.
The new store store opened its doors on May 1 at 2550 Sycamore Road in DeKalb’s Northland Plaza.
