Man stabbed to death in Peoria's first homicide of 2026

A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death Thursday night in his home in the West Bluff in Peoria’s first homicide of 2026.

Zachary White died following an alleged stabbing at his home in the 1100 block of North Underhill Street late Thursday night. According to the Peoria Police Department, officers responded to the scene at 10:23 p.m. Thursday after they received a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found White lying on the floor of the home with an apparent stab wound.

Despite the efforts of emergency personnel who conducted life-saving measures on the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, White suffered a single stab wound that resulted in internal injuries that led to his death.

Harwood noted that White likely died instantly from the stab wound.

No information has been made available regarding a suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
