PEORIA – A man facing charges of first-degree murder will remain in custody ahead of his trial.
Mickael D. Williams was indicted by a Peoria County Grand Jury in January 2024 in connection with the shooting of 34-year-old Arlin Bermudez-Castellon.
Police found Castellon with several gunshot wounds on Jan. 4, 2024, in the 200 block of East Thrush Avenue. He was eventually pronounced dead at a hospital.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney said two men – identified as Williams and David Stone – were captured entering the victim’s home and fleeing the scene by surveillance footage from a nearby building.
Roughly one month after the killing, Williams was arrested in Texas. According to the state’s attorney, a handgun matching shell casings found at the scene was retrieved. He was extradited to Peoria on Feb. 9, 2026.
Stone was found guilty of first-degree murder in October 2025.
