ROCKFORD, IL — A man who wasn’t there for his two-day trial has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two children multiple times between January and September 2022, according to information from the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s office.
A bench warrant was issued in March 2023 for the arrest of Adrian Jaramillo, 27, of Rockford, who was released after posting bail on a $150,000 cash bond, according to court records. He was not in custody and did not show up for his jury trial before Winnebago County Judge Scott Paccagnini, records show.
Jaramaillo was tried despite his absence and was found guilty by a jury of three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
A woman accused Jaramillo of assaulting her two children at a home in Rockford. In his absence, a recorded interview he had with police was played for the jury in which authorities say he admitted to some of the allegations.
One of the victims testified about the assaults that occurred when she was 6 years old, according to a news release.
Jaramillo remains at large.
Jaramillo has a May 21 court date where he could be sentenced to life in prison for the sexual assault of two victims.
