Illinois company to close two plants and lay off workers in 2026

An Illinois company is closing two facilities in Minooka and laying off 230 workers early next year.

APL Logistics, based in Chicago, submitted two notices this month to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity about the upcoming layoffs.

On Dec. 1, the supply chain management company reported layoffs of 130 workers from its facility at 1460 Cargo Court, effective Jan. 31, 2026. A day later, APL Logistics submitted a second notice, reporting layoffs of an additional 100 employees from the facility at 6225 E. Minooka Road effective Feb. 28, 2026.

Plant closures were provided as the reason for the layoffs, according to the notice submitted to the state.

The Journal Star reached out to APL by telephone and email but did not receive a response.
