The IHSA football season is right around the corner, which means it’s time to really get ready.
And part of that preparation for the fans is getting to know the star players around the area. And for us, that’s the Rockford area, and it all starts with the quarterback.
Teams from the NIC-10, Big Northern Conference, and NUIC, as well as Rochelle and a couple of other schools on the edge of our coverage zone, are filled with stars, standouts, and up-and-comers who should not be overlooked. So let’s start finding out just who that is.
And that starts at quarterback.
We will start today with our top 10 quarterbacks to watch around the Rockford area, and will continue with the rest of the positions throughout the rest of the preseason.
Some of these QBs earned their way onto our list with their play on the field last year and/or the year before, i.e., our Offensive MVP, Harlem’s Braxton Fausett, who returns for his senior season with high expectations. And one transferred in from Boylan to Hononegah in the offseason.
But others on our list are players to watch for a different reason. Some are taking over for a departed star; others won a preseason position battle, and now the pressure’s on; and others may still be fighting for the job.
So here are the top quarterbacks from the area to watch:
