Heading down to the Livingston County Ag Fair? Here's what you need to know

The Livingston County Agricultural Fair will open July 16, at Livingston County 4-H Park, 18142 4-H Park Road, in Pontiac.

The 94th annual junior ag fair will run through July 19 and will include nightly events, carnival rides and food sales along with the showing of animals and projects from area 4-H club members.

Are you thinking of heading down to the fair this year? Here are some things to know.

Grandstand events

Fair King and Queen: The Livingston County Ag Fair King and Queen will be crowned at 7 p.m. July 16.

Rogue Rodeo: The Livingston County Ag Fair Rodeo will take place at 7:30 p.m. July 16. Rogue Rodeo will be in charge of the event sponsored by Graymont Co-op, Livingston County Farm Bureau and Heritage Prairie Renewable.

The Kiddie Tractor Pull: You can catch the Kiddie Tractor Pull at 4:30 p.m. July 18.

Tractor Pull: The “Illini State Pullers” tractor pull will follow the Kiddie Tractor Pull at 6:30 p.m. July 18.

Demolition Derby: Demo Derby, under the direction of Ramer Race Promotions, will be at 7:30 p.m. on July 19.

Daily events

There are several activities that will take place each day: Rob Thompson Magic Show, Whimsy Pixie Paint Face Painting, chainsaw sculpting demonstrations and First Bite Fishing.

Hours and days

The fair runs from July 16 through July 19 and opens each day at 8 a.m.

Where to see animals

There are a variety of livestock shows taking place daily in the Byrne Building and the Show Barn. Exhibits will be on display in the Humiston Building.

For when you get hungry

There will be food trucks on hand, as well as the kitchen that is air conditioned and run by St. Mary’s Church.

Admission

Admission to the fair ranges from daily passes to season passes. Children age 10 years and younger are admitted free.

Daily admission for adults (patrons age 11 and older) is $5 before 4 p.m. each day. Admission for adults after 4 p.m. on July 16, 18 and 19 is $15. Admission after 4 p.m. on July 17 is free. Senior citizen (age 60 and older) daily admission is $2.

Season passes for adults are $30, senior passes are $8 and the junior exhibitor pass is $15.
