Galesburg teacher killed in two-vehicle crash in rural Knox County

A teacher at Galesburg Junior-Senior High School was killed Monday after a two-vehicle crash in rural Knox County northwest of Oneida.

Jordan Ball, 26, of Oneida, was killed late Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash involving a car and a semi-truck along U.S. 34 at Knox Road 900E. According to the Knox County Coroner’s Office, the accident occurred at 5:20 p.m., with Ball pronounced dead at the scene upon arrival.

The coroner said that Ball died of blunt force trauma as a result of the crash.

Ball served as a seventh-grade English teacher and basketball coach at Galesburg. The school said in a statement that he was a “caring educator who touched the lives of countless students” at the school.

The School Crisis Response Team from Regional Office of Education #33 was dispatched Tuesday to the school’s library to provide support to students, parents and staff.
