The Chicago Bears had several standout performers during Saturday’s 34-10 preseason win over the Cleveland Browns, including former undrafted edge rusher Jamree Kromah, who played a key part in the defense’s dominant showing.
Kromah had a monster showing against Cleveland, totaling six tackles, including three tackles for loss, two sacks, two quarterback hits and a forced fumble and recovery. That included a strip sack of Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson on fourth-and-2 that led to Chicago’s their first touchdown of the preseason.
Kromah made a strong statement for a roster spot as he generated pressure and consistently got into the backfield. After the game, head coach Ben Johnson discussed Kromah’s outing and how he showcased what he’d been doing back in the spring.
“It’s something you see in the springtime. The new techniques that we’re coaching with and he’s flashing,” Johnson said. “And yet it’s like, ‘Is this the time he’s going to turn it on?’ And you don’t know. Then you go into a game like this, and you see the get off, you see the relentlessness. You could feel his presence every single snap. I’m standing close to the D-lineman and they’re hooting and hollering and cheering for him because they’re as excited as he is because they’re seeing him going out there and making plays and making an impact like that. He’s such a hard worker. I know he’s been in the program now for a minute and to see him have some success on the field like that, that was huge.”
All eyes are on the Bears’ pass rush heading into 2026, after they totaled the seventh-fewest sacks in the NFL last season. Kromah made a strong statement for a roster spot as he was consistently able to generate pressure on the quarterback and make impact plays.
