Hy-Vee and Hormel are teaming up to give away free hams to local families this holiday season.
The Hams for the Holidays event is scheduled for 4 p.m. Dec. 4 at Galesburg High School, 1135 W. Fremont St., according to a community announcement. Hy-Vee employees and local first responders will distribute 200 Hormel Cure 81 hams while supplies last.
Hams for the Holidays is a collaboration between Hy-Vee and Hormel Foods to deliver 5,000 hams at 20 locations across Hy-Vee’s nine-state region, according to the announcement.
The event is in its eighth year and aims to fight food insecurity and help families in need in communities served by Hy-Vee stores.
The ham giveaway will continue until 6 p.m. or until all hams are distributed, whichever occurs first.
