In recent weeks, those driving around town may have noticed a change at multiple Peoria area gas stations, as the bold yellow and orange of Shell has given way to sleek grey with a touch of orange at 76.
Seven of eight gas stations have been fully converted, according to district manager Ranveer Singh. He expects the remaining work to be completed in the coming week.
Affected gas stations include:
He said “major construction” is taking place at the 4310 North Knoxville location, and construction is wrapping up at the 1900 North Knoxville station.
While Singh described Shell as a good brand, he said 76 was willing to help freshen up the properties.
He began managing the stations around a year and a half ago − noting there is no relation to the previous owner. He said the locations were not in “good shape,” and since then, they’ve worked to make improvements.
“So, we’re doing inside and outside. We’re changing a lot. We’re bringing food – bringing like new stuff,” he said. “Cleaning the store, basically.”
The storefronts themselves will operate under the name Rockets, Singh said.
He said patrons will find refreshed gas pumps, an improved environment and a new rewards program. 76 offers a Fuel Forward app – which includes savings – and KickBack Rewards. Singh said he is glad customers will be able to benefit from the transition.
Ultimately, he said the goal is to make things “look nice” for customers.
“When they’re going to walk in, they’re going to see the different store (from) now on,” Singh said.
