ROCKFORD, IL — A 30-year-old woman has died after being found unresponsive in the Winnebago County Jail.
According to a Dec. 9 news release from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, Winnebago County Correctional Officers discovered the woman unresponsive at 10:47 p.m. Dec. 7, and they along with on-site medical staff initiated life-saving measures. The female inmate was taken by the Rockford Fire Department to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman as Miranda Joiner of Rockford.
Joiner was found unresponsive in her jail cell, the coroner’s office states in a news release. She was pronounced dead at 11:27 p.m. Dec. 7.
The incident is under investigation by the coroner’s office and the Winnebago-Boone County Integrity Task Force.
