As the exciting girls basketball season in the Rockford area hits the backstretch, you voted for your Midseason Player of the Year on our poll. Now it’s time to unveil the winner.
There were plenty to choose from, and we gave you our top 20 to pick from.
By a narrow margin, and after a massive flow of voting over the week, Oregon’s Aniyah Sarver pulled out the win and earned your Midseason Player of the Year award. Sarver hauled in almost 35 percent of the vote, garnering 17,016 votes, to edge out Rochelle’s Audrina Rodriguez, who earned 14,063 votes. Even Pecatonica’s Korah Noud, who came in third, nailed down 10,120 votes in the hotly contested race.
Early in the season, you chose from 12 nominees in our poll and you picked Pecatonica’s Ryleigh Alexander as your Preseason Player of the Year. Now it’s Sarver as your Midseason Player of the Year.
The poll was open for one week.
