PEORIA – A 58-year-old Creve Coeur man has died after being struck in the head by a large tree limb.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office said Orin Burgess “suffered head injuries that were inconsistent with life” on Oct. 4 and died instantly due to the traumatic injury.

According to the coroner’s press release, EMS and the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the 600 block of North Hilltop Road in response to the injury. An investigation found Burgess was pulling branches from a downed tree and was struck in the head by “a large tree limb” after another individual did not see Burgess while cutting down a nearby tree.
