Coffee crawl, Earth Day seeds among 15 weekend events around Galesburg

Anniversary Film Series: Labyrinth

What: Celebrate Labyrinth’s 40th anniversary with long time fans and first time viewers. Teenage Sarah journeys through a maze to save her baby brother from the Goblin King. Tickets are only available at the door.

Art Bar: Tissue Paper Paintings

What: Create works of art using tissue paper. Crumple it for a 3D effect, add water for a watercolor-esque final product or make a tissue paper collage. Fee includes all art materials.

Upcycled Pressed Flower Jar

What: Come for a talk about sustainable practices around the home and create pressed-flower votives from recycled jars. Have special pressed flowers?  Bring them to put on your jar.

Farce of Nature

What: This frantic, Southern-fried comedy is about the struggling Wilburn family at their Arkansas fishing lodge, the Reel ‘Em Inn. The plot follows D. Gene Wilburn trying to save his business while managing a wife seeking romance, a gun-happy sister hiding a mob snitch and chaotic, unexpected guests.

When: 7:30 p.m. April 24-25; 2 p.m. April 26

Where: Prairie Players Civic Theatre, 160 S. Seminary Street, Galesburg.

Cost: $16; $10 for students

Downtown Galesburg Coffee Crawl

What: The inaugural Downtown Galesburg Coffee Crawl provides guests the opportunity to  stroll through downtown, sip something delicious and support local businesses, Innkeeper’s Coffee, Orange Cup Sidecar and The Beanhive. All three coffee stops are within walking distance, but you can also hop on the nonstop Downtown Galesburg Coffee Crawl trolley and ride in style. Tickets include a custom Karley’s Collection zipper tote bag designed for this event, an official Coffee Crawl punch card, unlimited rides on the downtown trolley running nonstop during the event, a chance to win the Downtown Galesburg Coffee Crawl raffle, fun samples, surprises and other treats at each stop.

10th Annual Rummage Sale

What: The annual rummage sale benefits Operation Christmas Child. All proceeds help with shipping costs for the boxes sent out each year. Shop for home or holiday decor, kitchenware, bedding, curtains, towels, children’s clothing and shoes, toys, craft supplies, electronics, outdoor items, guy stuff, knick knacks, wooden furniture and more. There will also be baked goods available.

Celebrate Earth Day: Seed Bombs

What: Celebrate Earth Day in the Science Lab.

Independent Bookstore Day

What: Check out exclusive items, spin the wheel for savings, pick up free items and take home a cookie.

Thrive’s 19th Annual Auction

What: Paint The Town Platinum is the theme of  Thrive’s 19th Annual Auction, as the organization celebrates 70 years of empowering individuals and strengthening the community. This fundraising event includes a live auction, an online auction, dinner and drinks, a 360° Photo Booth Experience, and interactive Platinum Fundraising tables. Guests are invited to embrace the theme and dress in Platinum Gala Style: cocktail attire, suits, dresses, metallic accents and a touch of glamour.
