The 112 layoffs are scheduled to take place Aug. 10 due to the company’s intent to close its Franklin Park plant, according to information provided to the state.

Eklind was founded in Chicago in 1923 and specializes in hex keys and hand tools that cater to tasks ranging from electronics assembly to automotive4 maintenance and repairs.

The Journal Star reached out to Eklind by telephone and email but did not receive a response.
