Caleb Williams puts NFL on notice about Bears rookie TE Sam Roush

With the big news that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams will grace the cover of “Madden NFL 27,” he has been the talk of the NFL world, even joining the “New Heights” podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce. While most of the conversation surrounded around Williams his career trajectory and the success of the Bears in 2025, the Kelce brothers also discussed what the team has on their roster at the tight end position.

One of the deepest and most talented tight end groups in the NFL, Chicago has three playmakers who can all make a difference with veteran Cole Kmet, second-year standout Colston Loveland, and now added into the mix, rookie third-round pick Sam Roush. When speaking to the Kelces, Williams discussed the tight end group he has and expressed his excitement over 13 personnel for the offense.

After Travis Kelce said the Bears have “two absolute dogs” in the tight end room, Williams was quick to single out Roush as another dangerous threat in this Ben Johnson offense.

“I got a third one now,” Williams said. “You haven’t seen him yet…there’s more. There’s always more. We got a new rookie guy. He’s built like the other guys also; Tall, smooth, he’s a freak a nature. Run block, pass block, catch, all of that. Whatever we need. We’ve got three of those now. We’re juiced, I’m juiced. It’s always an advantage when you can have one tight end, but when you have three that can do it all, it’s a big advantage.”

Clearly, Williams and Johnson have discussed the future looks for this Bears offense with all three talented tight ends involved, providing plenty of excitement for what’s in store. Loveland will be the biggest name out of the group to watch as he exploded onto the scene late in his rookie season and set an NFL record for most receiving yards in a playoff game by a rookie tight end in league history, totaling 193 receiving yards in two postseason games.

The selection of Roush may have surprised some given what the team already had at tight end, but Williams and Johnson have both expressed excitement for what their position group can do for the offense this season. So, eventually, we might look back at the pick as another game changer for this offense.
