Bradley basketball reserve forward becomes fourth to leave for NCAA transfer portal

PEORIA — The Bradley Braves roster continued to have space cleared out on Thursday when a reserve forward announced he was entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Handy Toussaint III, the 6-foot-8 junior forward from Port Au Prince, Haiti, is exiting the program.

“We wish Handy the best in his future endeavors,” said Bradley coach Brian Wardle, who has been consistent in his response to players entering the portal. “My staff and I are excited about putting together a great team during this offseason.”

Toussaint III appeared in five games during the 2025-26 season for a total 10 minutes, and was 0 of 1 shooting from the field. He was 0 of 2 from the free throw line and had four rebounds.

Toussaint III was part of a Braves team that went 21-13, finished second in the Missouri Valley Conference and went to the National Invitation Tournament for a fourth consecutive postseason.

He joined Bradley after playing the previous two seasons at Weatherford College, where he appeared in 27 games as a freshman and 29 as a sophomore.

It seemed unlikely the Braves had a role for him in the 2026-27 season.

“I want to take a moment to thank the city of Peoria, Bradley University and especially the coaches who recruited me,” Toussaint III said in a social media post. “To my teammates, thanks for the brotherhood, and thanks to the fans for your incredible support and encouragement.

“I … wish the entire Bradley community the very best.”

The Braves have seen center Kai Yu, guard Montana Wheeler, guard Demarion Burch and now forward Toussaint announce they will enter the transfer portal, which officially opens April 7.

They exit the Braves program along with seniors Ahmet Jonovic, Corey Thomas, A.J. Smith and Alex Huibregtse, who are gone because their eligibility has expired.
