Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden has been sidelined with a groin injury he suffered during Saturday’s training camp practice, and it was reported that he will miss a little bit of time. Now, we may have a clearer idea of what that might mean.
Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports is reporting Burden is expected to miss about a month and that the hope is he will be ready and available for the Bears’ Week 1 opener against the Carolina Panthers in September. That game takes place just over five weeks from when Burden suffered the injury.
Burden was injured during a one-on-one rep against cornerback Tyrique Stevenson on Saturday when the two collided while playing the ball. Both players were shaken up, with Stevenson appearing to take the brunt of the collision. It was Burden, however, who had to exit with the training staff while Stevenson returned to action almost immediately.
Up to this point, Burden was having a sensational camp while growing his rapport with quarterback Caleb Williams. Now that connection will need to be put on hold and hopefully return when the games get underway. Burden’s injury, however, gives other receivers such as Kalif Raymond, Jahdae Walker, Zavion Thomas, and even longshot players like Kaden Davis a chance more opportunities in the offense.
