Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams took the city by storm this season, providing many heart-stopping and joyous moments with his NFL record seven fourth-quarter comebacks in 2025.
Earning the nickname “Iceman” for his ice cold persona and delivery in those games, he brought back an energy to the city of Chicago that had not been around since the 2010 season when they made it to the NFC Championship Game and fell to the Green Bay Packers.
After a rough rookie season, which was overshadowed with coaching changes and a league-high 68 sacks, the jury was very much still out on Williams entering his second season, even after the Bears hired Ben Johnson. There was considerable success in the first year with Williams and Johnson, and while they fell short of the ultimate goal in a Super Bowl championship, both parties recognized what they did for the city, and Williams emphatically expressed his confidence that he can bring a Lombardi trophy to Chicago.
“That was part of the reason why I said I can do it here,” Williams said. “To bring life, to bring joy, to bring excitement, to being a Chicago Bears fan, to be able to cheer for us. I do take pride in it. It’s really cool, honestly, to be able to have those small things like that. Just being able to have the city behind you. You lose that game, you’re walking out of the game and the fans stand up and cheer and roar in a tough moment. It goes a long way.”
Throughout their nationally televised games this season, many broadcasters have pointed out the electricity in the city of Chicago with the Bears’ success, and if they can build off of it in the 2026 season, there’s no denying that the city will have plenty of life and perhaps something to show for it.
