It’s been quite the weekend for Chicago Bears, who mounted a fourth-quarter comeback against the New York Giants to improve to 6-3 on the season. But they also made some ground in the NFC North, thanks to losses by the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings.
The Bears are now tied for first place in the division, where the Detroit Lions own the tiebreaker after a Week 2 win. But we’re a long way from tiebreakers impacting standings, and it’s an incredible feat that Chicago is tied a top the NFC North after an 0-2 start.
The Packers were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles, 10-7, on Monday Night Football, where quarterback Jordan Love had a rough showing and Green Bay dropped their second straight game. The Vikings lost to the Ravens, 27-19, where questions linger about quarterback J.J. McCarthy after another rough showing.
Meanwhile, the Lions beat the Commanders, 44-22, but there are appear to be some issues on offense after head coach Dan Campbell took over play calling duties. Then you have the Bears, who mounted yet another fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Giants, 24-20, as they continue to find ways to win.
This makes Sunday’s matchup against the Vikings even more important for the Bears, who are out for more than just revenge but looking to remain atop the division and in playoff contention. Can Chicago even the series against Minnesota and win their seventh game in the last eight? Ben Johnson’s team has found ways to win after that 0-2 start, so they have a good chance here.
