In Bartonville, Echo Valley Meats is offering coffee and a popular brand of donuts.
The storefront – situated at 608 W. Garfield Ave. – began operating its own café on June 13. The Best Brew Espresso & Coffee ran breakfast operations out of Echo Valley Meats’ drive-thru for a short time this spring, but left to pursue an opportunity at Wildlife Prairie Park.
Echo Valley Meats already operates a lunch business which sees “nice traffic,” according to owner David Alwan. So, when The Best Brew left, Alwan said he decided to add breakfast operations, as well.
“We’re excited to serve you—stop by and start your day the Echo Valley way!” the business noted in a June 13 Facebook post.
Here’s what to know about Echo Valley Meats & Café.
What are the hours of operation?
Alwan said the café’s drive-thru is open from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. to noon Sunday. The business serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, he said.
Inside, the store’s retail space is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
What’s on the menu?
The café’s coffee comes from Intuition Coffee + Juice. The storefront serves coffee and espresso drinks such as:
Non-coffee drinkers can find chai, matcha latte and other beverage options.
The menu also features Mel-O-Cream donuts. The Springfield staple, which started in 1932, once operated a Peoria storefront. Alwan said customers who remember the brand have been surprised and excited to find Mel-O-Cream donuts at Echo Valley Meats.
“I wanted to do something a little different than (what) everybody else had,” Alwan said.
Classic donuts, cake donuts, donut holes, long johns and cinnamon twists are all available, and Alwan said the café is currently offering a $1 donut deal.
At the café, customers can also order various breakfast sandwiches during drive-thru hours.
