Gustafson’s Furniture & Mattress has closed its doors again after briefly re-opening amid what it said was a restructuring.
Gustafson’s management posted Feb. 11 on Facebook that the store had re-opened, and it was not going to permanently close. That post, which has now been deleted, came after rampant rumors spread on social media about the business following a sudden temporary closure.
Gustafson’s said in the post that they were forced to temporarily close amid a restructuring of the family business to allow for retirements.
But as of Feb. 16, the store is closed again. Signs were posted on the business’ doors.
“The store is closed until further notice,” the signs read. “As you may have seen on the news, Gustafson’s is currently closed for restructuring. We do not yet have a date for reopening. We understand you may expect your product or a refund, in the meantime, please call 815-636-8608 and leave a voicemail with the name on the order.”
After calling the number, navigating through an online switch board and waiting for a lengthy hold, the Rockford Register Star was able to leave a message for Gustafson’s seeking comment. That message has not been returned. We also sent the store a message via Facebook seeking comment.
