Winner declared in US House 22 Dem primary Pia Dandiya, Kaysia Earley

Pia Dandiya won the Democratic primary for U.S. House in Florida’s 22nd Congressional District over and Kaysia Earley.

In a statement, Democratic Committee Chairman Chair Ken Martin wrote: “As an educator and longtime leader in her community, Pia has dedicated herself to expanding opportunity and fighting for working families. She is ready to fight in Congress to lower the costs of groceries, healthcare, and housing for South Florida families. The DNC is ready to help elect Pia, flip this seat, and take back the House majority in November.”

Dandiya faces Casey Askar, who won the District 22 Republican primary in a crowded field that included David Burck, Michael Carbonara, Richard Evans, Terri Hasdorff, Belinda Keiser and Michael Thompson in November.

Newly drawn District 22 covers Wellington and the western stretches of Boynton Beach and Delray Beach, then runs south into Broward County and west toward Florida’s Gulf Coast.

The general election is Nov. 3.

A closer look at the Democratic candidates for U.S. House District 22

U.S. House District 22 candidate Pia Dandiya, Democrat

Pia Dandiya, 39, from Palm Beach Gardens, is an educator, school founder, former White House Fellow and technology and public-sector professional. She holds a master’s degree in education and has worked as a teacher in underserved communities, founded and led a public high school in Harlem, served as a White House Fellow, and worked at Apple on education, healthcare and public-service initiatives.

Her campaign priorities include lowering the cost of living by creating good-paying jobs and making housing, childcare, healthcare and insurance more affordable; strengthening public education through investments in universal pre-K, K-12 schools, higher education and workforce development; and protecting economic security and fundamental rights, including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, reproductive rights and democratic institutions.

When asked in a Palm Beach Post questionnaire why voters should choose her, she replied:

“I’m running for Congress because I believe we need a new paradigm in American politics to restore people’s belief in the American Dream. I’m proud to be a Democrat because I believe in expanding opportunity, protecting fundamental rights, and making sure our economy works for more people.

“This is a moment for our party to lead with clarity and deliver on the issues that shape our future.”

U.S. House District 22 candidate Kaysia Earley, Democrat

Kaysia Earley, 44, from Parkland/Coral Springs, is the founder and attorney of Earley Law Firm, a former assistant public defender in Broward County, paralegal specialist with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and nonprofit founder. She holds a law degree from St. Thomas University College of Law.

Her campaign priorities include addressing the rising cost of living, increasing healthcare affordability, and easing financial pressures on seniors and working families. She said District 22 needs experienced representation and points to her legal career, which includes more than a decade of experience, more than 100 jury and non-jury trials, and more than 300 dismissals and acquittals. She also founded Seeds of Manna, a nonprofit organization serving families in need through community outreach and humanitarian efforts.

When asked in a Palm Beach Post questionnaire why voters should choose her, she replied:

“Voters should choose me because I have spent my career serving others through advocacy, leadership, and proven results. As a trial attorney with more than 13 years of litigation experience, over 100 jury and non-jury trials to verdict, and more than 300 dismissals and acquittals, I understand how to analyze the law, solve complex problems, and advocate effectively for the people I serve.

“My commitment extends far beyond the courtroom. For more than 15 years, I have volunteered hundreds of hours in our community, earning the trust of residents and local leaders. I have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Women of Tomorrow Broward County Mentor of the Year Award, and proclamations from municipalities in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties for my community service.

“People often refer to me as ‘the community attorney’ because I have built a reputation for being accessible, responsive, and committed to helping others. I believe public office is about service, not politics. I will bring the same integrity, work ethic, and dedication to Congress that have defined my legal career and community involvement, and I will fight every day for the residents of District 22.”
