The Cape Coral Animal Shelter’s biggest fundraiser of the year is happening right now. The fifth-annual online auction offers vacation get-aways, art, jewerly, wine tastings and much more.
The auction continues now through Friday, Aug. 21.
Auction items include an African photo safari for two, a wine class, goat yoga, an in-home comedy show with popular Southwest Florida comedian RC Smith, golf excursions and a VIP studio tour at Gulf Coast News.
Auction helps pets, expansion at Cape Coral Animal Shelter
It’s all about helping the shelter’s dogs and cats. The money helps pay for the animals’ care, shelter, medical treatment, enrichment and adoption to new “forever homes.”
“Every dollar raised through this auction goes directly to the lifesaving work happening every day at Cape Coral Animal Shelter,” the shelter says on its website page for the auction. “Many of the animals who arrive at our doors come from heartbreaking circumstances and require urgent medical treatment, rehabilitation and compassionate care before they’re ready for a new beginning. Your bids make that possible.”
The auction also helps pay for the second phase of the shelter’s expansion happening this fall, including a new 19,000-square-foot shelter facility, 50 more dog kennels, eight spacious cat condos and a complete renovation of its current building to expand its low-cost veterinary clinic.
“This year, your support will have an even greater impact …,” the shelter said on its website. “When you participate in this auction, you’re not just bidding on incredible items and experiences — you’re helping build the future of animal rescue in Southwest Florida.”

Last year’s event raised $65,000 for the animals, according to the shelter’s website, and they’re hoping for more this year.
