Winner announced in the TCPalm Teacher of the Week poll (March 15-20)

This week’s TCPalm Teacher of the Week is Alma Farias, a preschool teacher at Head Start/Warfield Elementary in Martin County.

TCPalm wants to recognize Treasure Coast teachers making a difference for their students and schools. Readers — parents, administrators, students, community members and other teachers ― nominate their favorite teachers each week. TCPalm lists four nominated teachers, and asks readers to vote for their favorite to be named Teacher of the Week.

Alma Farias, Head Start/Warfield Elementary, Martin County

What the nominator said: “Alma Farias is an exceptional preschool Head Start teacher who is amazing at everything she does. She creates a warm and supportive classroom where every child feels safe and valued. She goes above and beyond by giving each student individual attention, supporting families, and putting extra care into every lesson. Her dedication, patience, and passion make a lasting difference in her students’ lives.”

Brianda Gutierrez, Wabasso School, Indian River County

What the nominator said: “Brianda is a caring and uplifting educator who consistently treats her students with respect and dignity. She creates a safe, supportive environment where students feel valued, heard, and encouraged to grow both academically and personally.”

Jimmy Hebb, John Carroll High, St. Lucie County

What the nominator said: “Jimmy Hebb, a John Carroll alumnus, is our physical education teacher and head basketball coach. He has been a committed and beloved member of our faculty since 2010. His students know him for his encouraging demeanor and his dedication to helping them work hard, whether in the gym, on the track, or in the weight room. Coach Hebb supports the growth and development of every student. We are grateful for his valued presence in our community.”

Ashley Langel, Manatee Academy, St. Lucie County

What the nominator said: “Ashley Langel is the best teacher. She is so dedicated to her kids and works so hard to meet every child where they are at. She is also the softball coach for Lincoln Park Academy. She is such a caring person and goes above and beyond for everyone around her.”
