Will Mother Nature let the 2026 Players Championship play through? Or will it be two straight years of a weather delay in the final round at TPC Sawgrass?
She first made an appearance this year during the first round, when driving rain forced play to be suspended for about 20 minutes. The weather was gorgeous the past two days, but meteorologists have been wary of Sunday’s forecast throughout the week. AccuWeather calls for “times of clouds and sun, becoming breezy in the afternoon with a thunderstorm in spots” and warned “thunderstorms can bring localized damaging wind gusts.”
Ludvig Åberg certainly hopes today’s round doesn’t play out like last year’s did, when a four-hour delay forced Rory McIlroy and J.J. Spaun to come back Monday for their three-hole playoff. With a four-stroke lead entering the last day of the tournament, Åberg wants this done long before those logistics enter in.
