Will Florida Christmas forecast surprise you? Probably not

Twas two nights before Christmas when all through Florida, not a sprinkle was forthcoming or a cold front to be seen.

Okay, that was a bit of a stretch but the sentiment — and holiday nostalgia — was there.

Temperatures are expected to be above average for several Florida cities this week, including on Christmas Day, according to the National Weather Service Mobile.

AccuWeather is predicting this could be the warmest Christmas on record for millions across the south-central United States. Temperatures could be 15 to 25 degrees above historical averages from Indiana to Georgia.

With Christmas right around the corner, here is the forecast around the Sunshine State, which will be living up to its name this year.

National Weather Service predicting dry, warm conditions for Florida Christmas

AccuWeather predicting some Florida temps above average for Christmas

“It will be a dry Christmas Eve and Christmas Day across Florida, which is great news for those with last-minute shopping or travel plans,” according to Reneé Duff, AccuWeather meteorologist, via email.

“High temperatures on both days will be right around 80 across interior and western portions of the peninsula. Temperatures will be in the middle to upper 70s across the western and central Florida Panhandle, as well as the east coast.

“Plenty of sunshine is expected and winds will be light. Overall, pretty fantastic weather over the holiday!

“Dry weather will continue right through the weekend for post-holiday travel.”

Weather Channel predicting chance for Florida seeing snow for Christmas range from ‘zip’ to ‘nada’

“If you’re dreaming of a white (sand) Christmas, this is your year,” said Jonathan Belles, senior digital meteorologist at The Weather Channel, via email.

” A large dome of high pressure is likely to be in control of the weather across the Sunshine State this Christmas, along with much of the southern U.S. This means that dry, warm conditions are more likely than not to make an appearance.

“The locals might want a light jacket during the evening, but the snowbirds won’t have any problem with the 50s and 60s for a sunset walk.

“The chance of snow this year ranges from zip in Pensacola to nada in Key West, but the beaches will be nice and warm, and more than likely, dry, this year.”

Fox Weather predicting ‘sparkling’ Christmas Day

“Christmas Eve will be quiet for the whole state with high pressure anchored over Northwest Florida, with highs in the upper 70s for just about everybody,” said Bob Van Dillen, Fox Weather meteorologist, via email.

“That’s about 5 degrees above average for the date. Christmas Day will be sparkling; no rain and highs again in the upper 70s. Too warm for snow runners on the fat man’s sled, he’ll go with wheels for the Sunshine State this year.”
