U.S. Forest Service officials could not immediately be reached Tuesday.

The Volusia County Professional Firefighters Association posted on its Facebook page that the East Marsh Road wildfire has so far burned 1,000 acres and is not controlled.

The wind appears to be pushing the fire toward the lake and no homes are endangered, the association said in its social media post.

Fire crews are working the fire and motorists are asked to exercise caution in the area because of the smoke from the wildfire.

“SMOKE AND ASH WILL BE IN THE AREA!!!! Tonight Heavy smoke is expected so drive with caution,” the Facebook post said.
