Whole Foods expands in Florida: Cities where stores are under development

Attention, shoppers: Another Whole Foods is coming to Florida.

The grocery store chain announced April 23 it would open its newest store in Jacksonville on May 21.

For Florida residents who don’t live in Northeast Florida, there’s more good news on the horizon.

Whole Foods said four new stores are “currently in development.”

Whole Foods has “a few Florida stores that are currently in development,” Carrie Hunte, Amazon grocery communications, Whole Foods Market, said via email April 23. Locations are:

The new Whole Foods in Jacksonville will open May 21.

There is no opening timeline at this time for the stores currently under development, Hunte said.

There are currently 37 Whole Foods in Florida; the new Jacksonville store will be the 38th.

Whole Foods Market announced it will open a new 38,432-square-foot store in downtown Jacksonville on May 21, 2026.

The new store will be at 1 Riverside Ave., and joins two other Whole Food Markets in the area.

Freebies available during Whole Foods grand opening in Jacksonville, Florida

The first 300 customers in line on May 21 will receive a limited-edition Jacksonville tote bag and a “secret saver” coupon featuring savings up to $100 off.

Also available on opening day will be free samples from La Gringuita Gourmet Cookies and coffee from Bold Bean Coffee Roasters.

“For the store’s design, vertical wooden slat walls pay an homage to the vertical lines of the Florida Times-Union newspaper building that once sat on the store’s site,” the grocery chain said.

“The store’s color palette of soft green and blue hues represents the water and sky seen along the riverfront of the historic Brooklyn neighborhood of Jacksonville.”
