Oppose 1260 N. Palm Ave project

In May 2025, the Sarasota City Commission voted 4-1 to halt the 1260 N Palm Ave project.

It cited multiple code inconsistencies and noted its incompatibility with its surroundings.

It also said the project failed relevant criteria regarding scale, intensity and neighborhood character.

But earlier this month, the 1260 N Palm Project developer and the city’s staff – which supported the previous rejected plan – announced a settlement to proceed with the project.

While this settlement proposes revisions to the landscaping plan and the addition of a green wall and a dedicated loading zone on N Palm Avenue, it still does not address the major reasons why the city commissioners rejected this proposal in 2025.

It still fails to comply with:

And now the project calls for a loading zone on Palm Ave – which no one else has.

This project is simply too large, and it is an unsuitable fit for a small lot.

The Downtown Sarasota Condominium Association, the Coalition of City Neighborhood Associations, and more than 3,400 individuals who signed petitions have opposed this project.

Please, ask the city commissioners to vote against this project again on May 4.
