Miami football fans are dying for one more home game for the Hurricanes this season. They’ll get it with a Fiesta Bowl win over Ole Miss.
One more victory means UM gets a shot at playing for the national championship in its home stadium. Crazier things have happened, especially in this year’s College Football Playoff. Chief among the madness was Malachi Toney nearly fumbling away Miami’s chances in their first-round CFP game, then scoring the winning touchdown at Texas A&M. It was pretty wacky how calm Carson Beck stayed against Ohio State’s No. 1 defense en route to a Cotton Bowl upset win, as well.
But nothing was more wild than the end of Ole Miss’ Sugar Bowl win over Georgia. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss rallied the Rebels on multiple occasions, finishing with a season-high 362 passing yards and tossing two fourth-quarter touchdowns all while pulling off highlight play after highlight play. Add to that the ongoing kookiness of new head coach Pete Golding navigating his coaching staff potentially leaving mid-playoff to follow Lane Kiffin to LSU.

Miami vs. Ole Miss prediction
Will it be the unstoppable force (Ole Miss’ second-ranked offense) or the unmovable object (Miami’s fourth-ranked scoring defense)? Star running back Kewan Lacy ran for 98 yards and two touchdowns in the Sugar Bowl, but he’s still battling a shoulder injury suffered in the first round. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes’ two best cornerbacks, O.J. Frederique and Damari Brown, are dealing with injuries of their own, less than ideal when facing a team with five 500-yard receivers. That said, Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor have combined for 7½ sacks during the CFP, and the UM defensive front has been a menace to all comers. Bringing down Trinidad Chambliss is no easy task — Georgia couldn’t do it once over two games this season — but if anyone can do it, Miami can.
