Weather forecast for FSU vs. Alabama in Week 1

The Florida State Seminoles are set to open their 2025 season against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday in Doak Campbell Stadium. It is starting to look like the game will be impacted by some bad weather that is expected to hit Tallahassee on the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 70% chance of rain, and thunderstorms are “likely” after 11 a.m. The good news is that they are expecting it to be “mostly cloudy” with a high near 84 degrees.

The rain will be a test for FSU’s new sod, which they started to install on Aug. 18 and will have under two weeks to become rooted. Slippery conditions could help FSU’s offense, which wants to run the ball frequently under offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. The Seminoles will need some help to pull off the upset as double-digit underdogs.

The game will be the debut of the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium, which had a limited capacity during the 2024 season as the Seminoles finished their $265 million renovation. It has already sold out and is expected to be a great environment for a matchup between two historic programs.

FSU’s game against Alabama is set to start at 3:30 p.m. ET inside Doak Campbell Stadium. The game will be on ABC.
