Vote in the Gainesville-area Athlete of the Week poll for March 9-15

The high school sports season is rapidly unfolding, which means it’s once again time for everyone’s favorite part of the week: The Gainesville Sun’s Athlete of the Week Poll.

Athlete of the Week nominees are compiled by what’s available on MaxPreps and by submission, so coaches, athletic directors and statisticians are encouraged to send nominees and their stats to nram@usatodayco.com for consideration.

Last week’s winner was Dean Glass from the Bell baseball team. Glass received over 12,600 votes as he had four runs, two hits and three RBIs in the Bulldogs 16-0 win over Cedar Key on Tuesday, March 3.

Voting closes at noon on Friday.

Aidan Michaux, Newberry baseball

Three RBIs and a home run in the Panthers’ 10-4 win over Crystal River.

Ariana Wilson, Hawthorne flag football

11 carries for 217 yards and four touchdowns in the Hornets’ 31-26 win over Newberry.

Blake Brewer, Buchholz baseball

Three RBIs and a home run in the Bobcats’ 5-0 win over Creekside.

Braige Schneider, Williston baseball

Three RBIs in the Red Devils’ 13-0 win over West Port.

Brice Domalewski, St. Francis Catholic baseball

Three RBIs and a double in the Wolves’ 17-5 win over Countryside Christian.

Caleb Jacobs, Hawthorne baseball

4-4 with four runs, a double, triple and home run with seven RBIs in the Hornets’ 31-0 win over Cedar Key.

Dominick Diaz, St. Francis Catholic indoor track

2nd place in Pole Vault at Nike Indoor Nationals, PR’ing at 4.43 | 14-06.25.

Emily Delgado, Columbia softball

Three hits and RBIs in the Tigers’ 9-0 win over Williston.

Emma Ellenburg, Newberry girls lacrosse

Four goals and two assists in the Panthers’ 11-5 win over Santa Fe.

Kenan Bellamy, Williston baseball

Two hits, two runs, four RBIs and a triple in the Red Devils’ 12-2 win over Seven Rivers Christian.

Mackenzie Fisher, Trenton softball

Four hits, five RBIs and two doubles in the Tigers’ 13-3 win over Branford.

Madison Hooper, Buchholz softball

Three hits and RBIs in the Bobcats’ 15-1 win over North Marion.

Mallory Blue, Branford softball

Two hits and three RBIs with a double in the Bucs’ 4-3 win over Eustis.

Max Archer, Eastside boys lacrosse

Three goals and an assist in the Rams’ 12-2 win over Atlantic Coast.

Mikinzie Hargon, Gainesville High flag football

Five catches for 65 yards and two touchdowns in the Hurricanes’ 25-0 win over Bronson.

Miley McCray, Lafayette softball

Two hits and three RBIs in the Hornets’ 12-4 win over Fort White.

Quaniyah Robinson, Buchholz softball

Three hits and six RBIs in the Bobcats’ 10-6 win over Bradford.

Payton Gulledge, Chiefland baseball

Four hits, three runs and three RBIs in the Indians’ 16-6 win over Fort White.

Reed Thomas, Buchholz baseball

One hit complete game shutout in the Bobcats’ 6-0 win over Bartram Trail.

Rylee Swilley, Santa Fe softball

Two hits, two runs, a home run and four RBIs in the Raiders’ 5-1 win over John Carroll Catholic.

Ryleigh Stone, Columbia softball

Two hits, two RBIs and a home run in the Tigers’ 3-2 win over previously unbeaten Trenton.

Samantha Baines, Oak Hall girls track and field

Won the 100m hurdles in a PR time, won the 400m hurdles, ran in the winning 4x400m team and placed second in the long jump. She was the girls MVP for the meet — the girls Alachua County Championship.

Talon Grider, Dixie County baseball

Three hits, three runs and four RBIs in the Bears’ 24-0 win over Jefferson County.

Taylor Brewer, Gainesville High baseball

Two runs, two hits, a double and three RBIs in the Hurricanes’ 18-8 win over Oak Hall.

Tyler Belleville, P.K. Yonge baseball

Three runs and RBIs and a double in the Blue Wave’s 11-0 win over Eastside.

Will Beck, Santa Fe baseball

Two RBIs ana a triple in the Raiders’ 11-3 win over Dunnellon.

Will Conquest, Williston baseball

Two hits, two runs, four RBIs and a double in the Red Devils’ 15-0 win over Bell.
