The Athlete of the Week voting is complete for 2024-25. Now it’s your turn: Which of the Athlete of the Week performances this year were the very best of the best?
Vote now for the top weekly performance from the Athlete of the Week winners of 2024-25. Over four weeks in June, the Times-Union rolled out polls for each quarter of the season, leading up to a final four. It’s one more opportunity to highlight some of the top performances from the high school sports season in Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.
This week’s voting begins Tuesday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Saturday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonville.com/sports.
Aug. 26-31: Beckham Cummings, St. Johns Country Day boys golf
The freshman golfer earned medalist honors by shooting a 37 to lead the Spartans to a boys golf team victory against Christ’s Church at Deercreek.
Nov. 4-9: Drew Monti, Episcopal boys soccer
The junior goalkeeper recorded three shutouts in a week for Episcopal boys soccer against Orange Park, Paxon and Christ’s Church.
Feb. 24-March 1: Nieko Garnes, Jackson boys track
The senior won the 400-meter hurdles at the Sam Burley Hall of Fame Invitational in Miami, running 52.67 for a school record, a meet record and the fastest high school time recorded in the United States to that point in 2025.
March 31-April 5: Rommeney Patrey, Bartram Trail softball
The freshman pitcher finished the week 2-0 with 18 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run, helping Bartram Trail softball to a perfect week against Tocoi Creek, Creekside and Bolles.
