The standard 911 voice system still was experiencing difficulties in Lake County and other parts of central Florida as of 9:30 p.m. July 8. Marion County is experiencing the same problem. Just before 9 p.m. on July 8, Marion County government issued a news release saying the outage “has been linked to the cutting of a fiber optic cable in the Clermont area.” The release said there is no estimate as to when service will be restored.

This is a developing story.
