The family of Virginia Giuffre, a victim of Jeffrey Epstein, on Tuesday, April 1, appeared to back off her assertion on Instagram that doctors had told her she had four days to live because of renal failure after a car crash.
Police on Tuesday described a collision of a school bus and a car in western Australia on March 24, but said no serious injuries resulted.
A family statement obtained by People magazine said Giuffre meant to post that information to her private Facebook page. Giuffre says she was sex-trafficked by Epstein to a number of wealthy men, including Prince Andrew. She met Epstein at age 15 when Ghislaine Maxwell approached her outside Mar-a-Lago.
Virginia Giuffre ‘remains in serious condition,’ family says
“Virginia thanks everyone for the outpouring of love and support,” the statement said. “She is overwhelmed with gratitude. Today she remains in serious condition while receiving medical care.”
It said the police responded but that “there was no one available to come to the scene. They asked if anyone was injured and suggested that if they were, they should make their way to the hospital.”
Giuffre left a stunning photo of herself looking badly bruised on Instagram. The statement said her condition worsened after the crash, sending her to seek hospital care.
In her Instagram post, Giuffre said she was ready to die but needed to see her “babies” one last time. She is estranged from her husband, Robert, and their children, according to news reports.
Giuffre’s father, once head of Mar-a-Lago maintenance, says she’s getting a divorce
Her father, Sky Roberts, told DailyMail.com that “she’s very depressed. … There’s everything else she’s been going through with the divorce and not being able to see her kids.”
Giuffre grew up in Loxahatchee starting at age 4. Her father was the head of maintenance at Mar-a-Lago when Maxwell lured her to do massages for Epstein. She was working as a spa attendant.
One of the first victims to speak out, Giuffre has sponsored causes to help battered and victimized women.
The anguish for Epstein victims

But the abuse by Epstein has come at a price for some victims.
Carolyn Andriano, once a good friend of Giuffre who backed up Giuffre’s claims against Prince Andrew, died of a drug overdose in a West Palm Beach hotel room in 2023. She left behind a husband and five children.
Andriano was one of four victims to testify at Maxwell’s criminal trial. A juror said her story was the most compelling and helped convince them to convict Maxwell of sex trafficking.
Andriano was the second Epstein survivor known to suffer a fatal overdose in Palm Beach County.
Leigh Skye Patrick, 29, was also found dead in a West Palm Beach hotel room in 2017. Patrick’s twin sister blamed her struggles with drugs on Epstein.
