On Monday, May 25, Americans will observe Memorial Day to honor those who have fallen in service to the country. Federal, state, and local government offices will be closed, including courtrooms and Social Security offices, and many services will stop for a day.
Will you get mail on Monday? Here’s what to know.
Is there mail delivery on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25?
No. All U.S. Post Office locations will be closed. Regular mail delivery and retail services will resume on Tuesday, May 26.
However, that doesn’t mean you can’t mail anything. Many USPS locations offer 24/7 self-service kiosks in their lobbies where you can buy stamps or print postage, weigh and mail packages, and get package tracking information. Some locations provide dropoff stations and pickup stations or allow you to print shipping labels from QR codes.
You can also use the USPS website at usps.com, or search for local kiosks here
Just be aware that even if you can drop off mail on Monday, it won’t start going anywhere until Tuesday, so any time-sensitive material should be mailed by Friday.
Will UPS deliver on Memorial Day?
There will be no UPS pickup or delivery service, according to the company, and UPS Store locations may be closed. Check your local store for specific hours.
However, UPS Express Critical will still be available for urgent deliveries.
Will FedEx deliver on Memorial Day?
FedEx will not be delivering on Monday, the company said. Local FedEx locations may be closed or have modified hours.
FedEx Custom Critical will still be available, and transportation customers can still use the FedEx Logistics portal to manage shipments.
Will Amazon deliver on Memorial Day?
Amazon may deliver on Monday, although the company uses the USPS for the “last mile” deliveries in rural areas, so you may not want to count on it.
The only holidays Amazon lists when same-day delivery isn’t available are Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day.
