The University of Florida announced Monday that two-time national championship-winning head coach Urban Meyer will be inducted into Florida football’s Ring of Honor during the Oklahoma game on Nov. 7.
Meyer will join Wilber Marshall, Emmitt Smith, Steve Spurrier, Tim Tebow, Danny Wuerffel, Jack Youngblood and Tim Tebow in the team’s Ring of Honor in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The most recent addition to the team’s Ring of Honor was Tebow, who was inducted on Oct. 6, 2018.
Before Tebow, Marshall was inducted on Sept. 29, 2007. The four before them were from the original unveiling on Sept. 30, 2006, as part of the 100-year celebration of Gator football.
“I am truly honored and humbled to be selected for the Florida Football Ring of Honor. My time at Florida holds so many special memories for me and my family. Everything we accomplished was the result of an extraordinary coaching staff who recruited exceptional players and were supported every day by the University, the Athletic Department, and the entire Gator Nation,” Meyer remarked.
“I want to thank Dr. Bernie Machen and Jeremy Foley for bringing us to Gainesville and for embracing our family and our staff from the very beginning. There is nothing like game day in the Swamp, the energy of 90,000 fans behind you, pushing and willing you to victory,” he continued.
“The championships were certainly special, but the bonds forged with our players, staff, and countless members of Gator Nation will last a lifetime. I am grateful to have been part of Florida’s storied football tradition, and I want to thank Gator Nation for the passion and pride you continue to bring to this program. This recognition means more to me and my family than words can express. Go Gators.”
Meyer’s induction into the Ring of Honor was announced last season during his on-campus salute on Nov. 22, 2025, after being named to the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame.
Meyer coached the Gators for six seasons from 2005-10 and had an impressive record of 65-15 and a conference record of 36-12. He led the Gators to a pair of national championships in 2006 and 2008, along with two conference titles, three division titles and six straight January bowl games.
Meyer racked up numerous pieces of hardware, being named All-American Football Foundation Coach of the Year in 2008, and coaching 57 All-Americans to receive honors and 113 total All-SEC accolades. He was also the coach when Tim Tebow won the Heisman Trophy in 2007.
Meyer’s overall win percentage of .813 ranks second all-time in program history, and he was the first coach in the history of the Football Bowl Subdivision to post consecutive 13-win seasons in 2008 and 2009 while also guiding the program to a school record of a 22-game winning streak, which is the fourth longest in the history of the SEC
Meyer’s legacy at Florida was built on consistency, championships and dominance, capturing 16 consecutive SEC victories, spending 89 straight weeks ranked and posting a 36-5 record inside the Swamp.
