Three-star offensive tackle Xavier Payne decommitted from the Florida State Seminoles on Sunday. The news comes after he took an official visit to Tallahassee over the weekend.
He committed to FSU back in December, becoming the first high school commitment for Herb Hand. He never shut down his recruiting process though, and took official visits to multiple other programs. Payne officially visited the Colorado Buffaloes and admitted they had given him “some things to think about.”
He is the No. 715 player and No. 57 offensive tackle in On3’s industry ranking. The Orlando product is also the No. 98 player from Florida.
Payne’s departure leaves FSU with two offensive line commits, three-star interior offensive lineman Mike Ionata and unranked offensive tackle Luke Francis, who committed on Sunday. The Seminoles have 14 total pledges in their 2026 recruiting class. The class is ranked as the 18th best in the country by On3.
