Three ultra-low-cost airlines are adding new flights out of the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers and Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) in Punta Gorda.

Avelo Airlines announced four new nonstop routes from Central Florida airports, with one from Southwest Florida International Airport.

Three routes connect to the Concord-Padgett Regional Airport in Concord, North Carolina, and one route connects to the Rafael Hernández Airport in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Avelo is the only airline offering nonstop flights for these routes.

“We’re excited to make it easier than ever for Florida travelers to experience everything the Charlotte region and Aguadilla have to offer with these new nonstop routes,” Andrew Levy, the founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, said in a press release.

Breeze making its mark in Southwest Florida

Breeze has grown rapidly at Southwest Florida International since establishing a hub in 2024, allowing it to station pilots, flight attendants and aircraft overnight at the airport. It has operated at the airport since 2022.

The carrier now offers flights to more than 25 cities from RSW. In May, it announced the addition of four new routes from Atlantic City, including to Fort Myers, following Spirit Airlines’ failure in bankruptcy. The flights between Fort Myers and Atlantic City will begin on Oct. 22.

Breeze Airways growing internationally

In total, Breeze operates more than 300 year-round and seasonal routes to 91 cities in the United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

The company was named to the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list for 2026.

In 2025, the airline was recognized as one of Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies and named Best Major Airline in North America by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX).

Headquartered in Utah, the company launched on May 27, 2021, with an inaugural flight from Tampa International Airport to Charleston International Airport.

Founded by aviation entrepreneur David Neeleman, the airline provides highly flexible cabin options (including premium Ascent seating), with no change or cancellation fees (up to 15 minutes prior to departure), and other passenger-friendly benefits, such as free family seating.

Allegiant Air adds one route at of Punta Gorda Airport, six returning

Allegiant Air has nearly 30 new and returning seasonal flights coming to Florida airports in the second half of 2026, including seven to and from Punta Gorda Airport (PGD).

“We’re excited to announce these new routes and believe it is an important time for Allegiant to increase travel options in these markets,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer, in a May 19 release.

Allegiant eliminated one route and paused another at PGD in June, between Punta Gorda Airport and Huntington Tri-State Airport (HTS) in West Virginia and Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) in New York.

The Syracuse flight is among those returning in November.

Punta Gorda Airport is located off I-75 near Charlotte Harbor, between Fort Myers and Sarasota.
