Third active forest fire breaks out off County Road 2321 in Bay County

PANAMA CITY − Another forest fire has broken out in Bay County.

As Bay County continues to grapple with dry and windy conditions, another forest fire erupted April 24 off of County Road 2321 in Bay County.

According to the Florida Forest Service’s website, the 2321 fire was about 20 acres and 30% contained at 7 p.m. It was burning near the CR 2321 and US 231.

A Bay County Sheriff’s Office helicopter could be heard overhead. It was busy flying back and forth from the fire to a retention pond in the Titus Park Community, where it was retrieving water to dump on the blaze.

There were three active forest fires in Bay County as of 7 p.m. This included the 2321 fire, as well as two in Lynn Haven: one off Britton Road that was about 4 acres and 90% contained, and another off Harvard Boulevard that was about 1.5 acres and 90% contained.
