A Tallahassee man with a lengthy criminal history was found guilty by a federal jury July 29 on drug trafficking and firearm charges, according to federal prosecutors.
Christopher L. Daniels, 47, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute multiple controlled substances – including more than 50 grams of methamphetamine – and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida said in a news release.
The case stems from a January 2026 search of Daniels’ home by the Tallahassee Police Department, following an investigation into suspected drug trafficking.
Officers executing a warrant found a variety of drugs in plain view, including approximately 2.75 ounces of methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, synthetic cathinones commonly referred to as “molly,” and marijuana.
Investigators also recovered 64 tablets initially believed to be MDMA that were later determined to be low-purity methamphetamine, along with four pistols inside the residence. One of the firearms, described as a Draco-style AK-47 pistol, was found near crack cocaine, according to evidence presented at trial.
Prosecutors said data from Daniels’ cellphone further supported that he was actively involved in drug distribution.
Daniels has 12 prior felony convictions dating back to 1996, including multiple serious drug offenses, prosecutors said. Because of his criminal history, he faces enhanced penalties under federal law.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 15 before Senior U.S. District Judge Robert L. Hinkle in Tallahassee. Daniels faces a mandatory minimum sentence that could range up to life in prison, along with up to life on supervised release and a potential fine of up to $20 million.
The case was investigated by the Tallahassee Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Daniels was represented by the Federal Public Defender’s Office.
